The Automan Cometh

March 23rd, 2009 | 6 Comments | Posted in At The Altar, Chennai, JLT

A few Months Back (Yeah Yeah!!! I have not blogged in a while) I was having a conversation with a colleague at work and she said Personal blogs are Sad Stories. This one is for you lady!!!

Recently I have become an auto aficionado. Autos for those of you who do not know are three wheeled Vehicles which can take you on a trip or take the trip out of you and yes Auto guys tend to take you for a ride. Autos in Chennai don’t go by the meter it is good old bargaining which works.

IF you have time to waste and are looking for some fun and time pass, do this…

Wave a Auto down, Give him your destination then ask him how much it will cost. Let’s take my normal route Kilpauk to T.Nagar Say he asks you for Rs. 100 you do a small calculation 100 divided by 2 which is 50 and subtract 10 from that. So you will quote 40Rs. (Don’t think it is ridiculous If He goes by the meter it will not cost anything more than 35Rs. Now the autoguy will be shocked and will normally mumble jumble and proceed) If he does not I will assure you he is ready to bargain and can be brought to go on a ride for 45Rs.

Trust me there is nothing wrong in arguing for even 1Re or 2Rs. It is hard earned money after all. If you hate the auto guy and don’t want to have some fun torturing them feel free to take a bus back home. I do that sometimes or better still walk back home.

One of my friends actually tells that she is a college student and that her dad does not giver her enough pocket money. Interesting Story but I would not be able to tell something like that and get away with it.

Have some more Tips, Incidents coming up…
Comments, tips and real life incidents are welcome.

Have fun using public transport.

Hobbes the Tiger – My Friend

December 4th, 2008 | 7 Comments | Posted in Aravind, At The Altar, JLT, Relationships

I am crazy about dogs. It is not like I hate Cats. Cats are cool in a Cartoon strip. But Dogs are cool in real life. Dogs understand people better than cats. I have written about relationships with so many people, But why did I not realize till I read this post that I should write about my now gone Doggy friend, Hobbes.

Hobbes named after the Tiger from the strip Calvin and Hobbes. Anyways Hobbes is a yellow Labrador who I took care of during my days in a lonely town with hardly any friends to talk to. He was a jolly good fella with mischief written all over him. He would climb all the way to my first floor apartment but would refuse to get down. (I later realized that the fella feared heights.) He would go chasing other street dogs. But he was shit scared of Bulls and the best part he would go after women. I don’t know why he would do that but he would really chase women. His favourite thing was watching what I did on my computer. He did not like television and better still he would lie in my office the entire day in the comnfort of the Air Conditioner and refuse to budge.

Anyways we had to part ways and he was given away by my dad to a friend of his. I think I should go visit him one of these days. He has apparently fathered puppies. I got him for free and I gave him off free. Yeah Ketaki keep looking for that free puppy you are bound to get one your way.

Looking Back…

November 26th, 2008 | 4 Comments | Posted in Aravind, JLT, Relationships

When I started blogging in January 2008 (Was it before that. I keep forgetting. Anyways whatever it was) I used to visit Blogs like crazy. I used to leave comments on a regular basis. One of the first blogs that I ever read regularly was NEVERMIND (her posts, they are funny) Then I found Ouch My Toe written by a guy who calls himself Jammy Damn funny guy. There have been so many others who I eventually started reading but my most favourite haunts are listed in my blog roll.

I mention these two blogs because they have seen me through a time when I was destructing my life. They kept me sane. Not only have I made a lot of great friends but I have also had a career change, started a group called Blogoholics Anonymous with this Dude and this Dude and this Lady.

The ride has been awesome upto this point. I am going to see this through.

The People

November 7th, 2008 | 8 Comments | Posted in At The Altar, JLT, Relationships

The People are who are important. What else is important in life. Relationships are important. But do realise that for some it is these very relationships which screw up their lives.  Right now everything is so damn confusing.

What if someone you had a relationship and ended it conveniently decides to come back and haunt you??? Are they the ghost people???

Bleddy Relationships, Bleddy Ghosts and Bleddy People!!!

Words… It’s only Words

October 15th, 2008 | 13 Comments | Posted in At The Altar, JLT

Words make a big difference in this life. Afterall “It’s only words and words are all I have to take your heart away” a real mushy number from Boyzone who have disappeared into some word less place. I know this girl who studied French with me and she sang that song at the Summer fete at Alliance Francaise of Madras. But she is in no way related to this post.

Words have changed history, geography, science etc. You name it and it has been changed by words. Be it the written word or the spoken one. What is the most powerful thing on earth “WORDS” it can change anything anyone anyplace overnight. Madras became Chennai, Jayalalitha became J. Jayalalithaa a.k.a Amma, Hitlers words changed the fate of a race.

Just imagine a life without words, just sign language. I am reminded of old Charlie Chaplin movies which he directed before the Talkies happened so funny but yet again he had to use the written word between scenes.

I wrote about my buddy in crime “Now XXXXXXXXXXX was stopped by the girls when he was trying to take a general picture of the crowd. Reason being he looks like a School Boy Youth” Yeah he threatened me with death if I did not change school boy to something else.

I know this girl who I met through some friends. We met last night and I saw that her nose is all red and me get all concerned when somone is not feeling well

Me : Are you feeling well?

Girl : Yes!!I am perfectly fine!!!

Me : No just that your nose looks like Santa Claus’ nose.

Girl : @##$$ @!@#%$ %#$%$!!!!

I am pretty sure it was something nasty.

Last night was not a great night because I came back and I was chatting with my Buddy Crime and lemme reproduce it here.

10:47 PM me: hey
10:48 PM need can you mail me that FTP ip address
hello
mike testing
pesu da
talk man
walkman
sony
10:49 PM pony
tony
bassie
cassie
bottley
motley
Yes I play silly games like that.
I was going through the entire chat script just now and I realized it is not worth putting in my blog. It is in a language I prefer to speak and rather not type. After all they are just words and words don’t real mean much to me. It is just another way of hiding behind our true selves.
As Super Star Rajnikanth says in Baasha “Chinaman will die if he does not gamble, Indian will die if he does not speak” Sad but True. We should talk less and work more. Really should… But then what happens to this blog? Are these not Words??? It’s only words.
